Arethusa
154'
10 guests, 8 crew
In Greek
mythology, ARETHUSA was on of the 50 Nereids, the daughters of Nereus, "the
old man of the sea", and the Oceanid Doris. These beautiful women were
always friendly and helpful towards sailors fighting perilous storms and the
treacherous sea. They tried to slow the winds and the tempests down and did
everything possible to make the sailors' journey fast and easy.
Arethusa was built with charter in mind, she offers accomodation for 10 guests.
She is powered by twin 2250 HP Caterpillar 3512B engines, and reaches a top
speed of 17 knots. She is classed by Bureau Veritas and holds the MCA Code of
Practice for Safety of Large Commercial Motor Sailing and Motor Vessels.
Externally, her shaded main and upper aft decks and expanse of open, uncluttered
teak on the sundeck offer an enormous amount of space. The sundeck's curved
hardto gives the superstructure an appealing "crown" and tops an
expansive exterior that includes a large pool and smart, sheltered outdoor
dining on the upper deck. The upper salon is a retreat where guests can enjoy
television entertainment in front of a modern open fire. Internally, the
relaxed mood is created and enhanced by soft colour shades and exceptional
unique artwork and panels by the Turkish sculptor and painter Günseli Kato -
extraordinarily captivating images that manage to dominate the interior without
intrusion or overstatement.
The picture of the fish is a prominent feature of the dining aera in the main
salon but does not overwhelm it. Clean lines and subdued shades create a
pleasant ambience.
The interior of the yacht was designed by Geneva-based Design Investment, a
company that is heavily involved in aircraft interiors, including the first
class mini-compartments of the Airbus A 380 and Lufthansa's Boeing Business Jet.
Their experience in this field is evident in the unterstated but effective style
of the guest accomodation. In addition to the master suite forward on the main
deck, the yacht has two VIP double cabins and two twins on the lower deck, all
ensuite.
